My name is Stephanie Leong. I am a 40 something, Mom, Physician, and Army Officer.
I grew up in a family that valued a conservative approach to education and career. I was compliant but always found myself stretching in novel ways. First that meant finding my own path in medicine; I had been told my many to avoid Psychiatry as a field of study. It wasn’t always well regarded among other physicians. The reasons for this are many but I believe at the core is a longstanding fear about our ability or rather inability to both understand and cure the mind. This didn’t sway me and I became a master of my craft and have practiced Psychiatry for the last 18 years, caring for children and adults with all sorts of difficulties. I am inspired by those who seek to understand themselves, make new choices and move forward in their life. Medicine has changed significantly over the last several years; adopting a business model which placed the focus heavily on productivity and generating money which led me to be less and less resilient as I was asked to do more and more documentation, administrative work and all that in less time. My resilience diminished and soon I was burned out and depressed. I loved my work with patients but I dreaded going to work. I lost my joy.
My home life was also not where I desired it to be; I longed for more time and more freedom in my days. I wanted to be more present in my children’s life, to be emotionally available to my husband and to have 5 minutes alone and not feel guilty. I wanted to grow a life I am excited about which meant making new and different choices. So I branched out and found myself creating; first with real estate, next network marketing professional and finally, creating this blog to share and inspire more people than the “patient” in front of me. I love speaking and sharing knowledge so on this blog you will see videos as well as written words and prompts plus I am pretty grateful to have a spouse who enjoys taking beautiful photos with his own unique eye. I hope to serve you the reader so that you may grow radiant too through making choices which contribute to your wellness, to helping you feel more empowered and passionate in all aspects of your life with a SPECIAL emphasis on feeling beautiful, caring for yourself and being prepared to care for others optimally informed by me, a Psychiatrist who recognizes that information overwhelm is real!
